I wonder why?

Henry David Thoreau said “None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm”.

This week on the property I found myself asking the question,  “I wonder why?”  I bet I said those same words hundreds of times.

I wonder why?

this pile of wood is stacked in this spot?

the turkeys that nest nearby are not out running? We saw them last week.

I am going into the old house  while something is making that noise inside?

I find my essential question has to do with the people who walked this land before I knew that it existed. People who are long since passed.

I am a teacher by design and an educator by trade.  In my humble experience the most engaged and enthusiastic students are not always the ones raising their hands to answer questions but rather the ones that ask THE question.

I wonder why?
