Vibrations
In my classroom I have a large gong. It is probably three feet around and stands on a metal base in front of the piano.
Often when students have a great day or need a change in their day or just miss their mom, I ask them to give me a positive vibration.
If you gently strike the gong In the center it makes the most beautiful vibration. The science of sound dictates that based on size and strength of the striking action, the gong resonates with a rich sound. The larger the the gong, the slower the vibration which results in a deeper pitch.
If you are standing next to the gong you can actually FEEL the vibrations. I often explain to my students that its like a rock that is thrown into a calm pond of water. The vibrations move out and out and out.
Sound is nothing more than vibrations...and Intentions. If it begins with nothing else, it begins with an Intention. A true picture of where someone’s heart and thoughts are.
This week, the last of 2020, I am concerned with some things I have read in the news cycle and general posts. I won’t repeat them here because I choose not to feed into the narrative.
All this, simply because of a differing belief or opinion ?
Any time I hear someone use a derogatory name or wish ill (even death) on a stranger I have to question the intention. Even if it is said or typed behind a screen, when is it ever okay to call names?
To me, that is a true definition of a curse.
Our words hold such incredible power. They can speak into a troubled situation with grace and calm and they can hold such absolute destruction.
If you truly aspire to be someone that wants to make a difference, let it start with the words you use and the Intention behind them.
Your Positive Vibration.
