The Inevitable

Webster defines the word “inevitable” as “certain to happen; unavoidable”

In every journey there are inevitable outcomes. Everyone will struggle, every relationship will end, and every one will walk the rainbow bridge to the other side.

As I write this, I am sitting here next to a morning fire. I am surrounded by tall trees and a beautiful lake. And especially friends. I am reminded of the importance of living in each moment.

When we go on our adventures, the next hill to climb is still far off and the current challenge is the only task at hand.

I am constantly trying to take the lessons I have learned from nature and apply them to my day to day life.

I get caught up in a to do list that grows ten fold each time I mark something off.

It is a struggle not to chase the inevitable and to allow our journey to unfold organically.

Martin Luther King once said “Take the first step in faith, you don’t have to see the whole staircase”.

I am certainly not advocating for being unprepared for the inevitable. But I do believe we have a choice, we can define our lives by the struggles we endure or we can live our life in the simple moments of sitting by a fire.

Today I will strive to live each moment one stair and one fireside at a time. I am blessed.
